Welcome to Huntly, Keith and Turriff Cats Protection Branch
In these challenging times with the developing situation with coronavirus (COVID-19), Cats Protection is taking extra precautions to keep our cats, volunteers, employees and the public safe and continue to provide high levels of care for the cats in our centres and branches as well as helpful welfare advice to cat owners.

From the 17th July our branch will be operating a Hands-Free Admissions and Homing Service. (We have limited pen space, and a small waiting list already!)

If you need to rehome your cat please phone: 01466 760311 or email: enquiries@huntly.cats.org.uk

A guide to our new hands-free homing process

We’re keen to help as many cats as possible, both during the current crisis and beyond. Offering our cats a home will help to free up more space to take in emergency cases.

We have put in extensive procedures to make sure that our homing process is in line with current government guidance, without putting adoptees or our volunteers at risk.

Here is our guide to adopting a cat using hands-free homing

  • Check you are within a reasonable distance of your chosen branch. You can find your nearest branch by typing in your postcode at www.cats.org.uk/find-us
  • Enquire. If you’ve found a cat on our website that you’re interested in homing, send an enquiry through using our facebook page or via our helpline on 01466 760311 or via email on enquiries@huntly.cats.org.uk
  • Reserve your cat. If you’re found to be a match for your chosen cat, you’ll be contacted via phone or email. You may be asked for proof of your address and the consent of your landlord (if you live in a rented property)
  • Adopt. Once you have reserved your cat, you’ll be sent paperwork to sign and you’ll make a further telephone appointment with our team. In this call, you’ll have a chance to discuss everything you need to know about your cat. You’ll then pay an adoption fee of £75, usually by bank transfer
  • Bringing your cat home. Once this is finalised, we’ll arrange for a driver to bring your cat safely to your home
  • Be supported. You’ll receive a follow-up call or email around three, seven and 21 days after the adoption to check that your new arrival is settled in. You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice

Need help?

For general information and cat welfare advice please contact our National Information Line.

We are a branch of volunteers who rescue, rehome and rehabilitate cats and kittens of all ages.

We also raise awareness of cat welfare, operate a feral trap, neuter and release scheme to help control feral colony sizes and we can help with neutering costs for people who are on low incomes.

Our branch covers a large area and is operated by a small number of volunteers.
We rely on your generous donations so that we can continue our work and help as many cats as possible.

We are always looking for more volunteers so please do get in touch using our contact page or via our Facebook page. If you can't foster a cat or kittne there are so many other ways you can help.

Get in touch today and we will be more than happy to have a friendly chat with you.

Rehoming a cat in our care

All the  kittens and cats in our care are vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and treated for worms and fleas. If a kitten is too young to be neutered, before leaving us, you will receive a voucher to cover neutering costs. All of this is included in our adoption fee of £75.

We will be with you every step of the way and will always be here to offer advice or help if needed.

Everyone loves kittens but please do consider our more senior cats. They have so much love to give and are with us through no fault of their own.

Older cats adapt very quickly and your purrfect, faithful companion may just be a mature lady or gent.
